ENERGEAN: is an independent energy company established in 2007, listed in London and Tel Aviv exchange, focusing on the Mediterranean basin, with 1.16 billion boe 2P reserves (84% gas) and producing 41k boe per day in 2022 (>70% gas). The company explores and invests in innovative solutions to increase its natural gas and oil production, targeting 200kboe per day in the mid-term, developing energy efficiently, sustainably, and safely for the ecosystem and the social community. Within HERCCULES, ENERGEAN is:

- Attending in the WP5 “Demonstration at TRL8 of sustainable and safe CO2 storage in Greece, including permitting, logistics and scalability” with Prinos CO2 underground sequestration site with an initial storage capacity of 0.5-1.0 million tons of CO2 per year and an expected capacity of 2.5-3.0 million tons of CO2 per year at a second stage.

The most relevant CCUS projects where ENERGEAN is involved in, is: 

- Prinos CCS – CO2 Storage project with a scalable CO2 injection and storage project, leveraging existing onshore and offshore infrastructure operated by Energean (100%). 8 MOUs with emitters have already been signed. Project qualified for funding through Greece’s Recovery and Resilience Facility. Applications for the inclusion of the project in EU’s Project of Common Interest and EU’s Innovation Fund have been submitted.  On 2022 September 30th, the competent National Greek Authority (HEREMA) awarded to Energean the CO2 Storage Exploration License. This license allows Energean to conclude its assessments, working in parallel on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
