HERCCULES and COREu projects join forces on the Dissemination event “Development of the CCUS Chain in Greece”

On 17 September 2026, the HERCCULES and COREu projects will come together in Kavala, Greece, for the dissemination event “Development of the CCUS Chain in Greece”. The event will bring together the projects’ networks and expertise to explore the growing role of CO₂ capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) in Greece and its contribution to Europe’s decarbonisation efforts.

The event will be hosted and organised by CRES at the Great Club Kavala (Megali Leschi Kavalas), with the support of ENERGEAN, EUCORE, Steinbeis Europa Zentrum, LEAP, and the international consortia of both projects.

The event is expected to bring together several participants from different european countries, including project partners, representatives from industry and academia, scientific and technical experts, legislators, policymakers, and regulatory bodies. It will provide an opportunity to exchange project results, share experiences and perspectives, and discuss the technologies, opportunities, and challenges associated with developing a strong CCUS value chain in Greece.

A special highlight of the programme will be the visit to ENERGEAN’s Prinos CO₂ Storage project, the first project of its kind in Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. The visit will give participants the opportunity to see first-hand a strategically important site and explore the potential of large-scale CO₂ storage as part of the region’s future decarbonisation pathway.  Please note that the vessel has limited capacity and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event will also provide an important platform for strengthening collaboration, connecting key stakeholders, and fostering further dialogue on the development of CCUS in Greece and across Europe.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required due to limited in-person capacity (max. 80 people). Registrations will close on 07/09/2026
